Who Decides What Schools Teach?

This article is American and does make me think twice about who does decide what schools teach?
After reading the article it is clear to me that American schools are not making learning fun. It sounds like the curriculum needs serious reform. If teacher who are trained with curriculum integration in mind could get a hold of these American schools and their curriculum's I think that change would occur rapidly.

It seems that the public does not recognize the expertise that some teachers have nowadays in curriculum integration and reform. If something is worth teaching, it is worth teaching well so that students remain engaged about it.

Schools are always changing, so are the students. As teachers we need to be prepared to teach all of these students. It sounds like there will always be controversy about what should be taught in schools. Everyone has different ideas about what should be taught and it sounds like they will never agree. Different experiences and views affect what people think should be taught in schools today.
